Dreams as Feminine Wisdom

What is your relationship with your dreams? Is it for you easy or difficult to remember them? Do you take a few minutes when waking up to remember them or even to write about them on your phone or notebook? Maybe you are one of those who wakes up during the night to lay images, feelings, words coming from a mysterious realm onto a blank page?
What if our dreams were the Feminine Wisdom whispering sparkles of another way of knowing. A knowing that is not coming from our linear mind, well structured, organized into nice little boxes, registering our life and daily events and all of the information we ingested from the movies, news or social media. What If we would honor and explore with fascination our dreams as the visit of the Goddess, God or the mystery. What if our dreams were here for us and our limited minds to fathom the labyrinth of the Mystery of our life and who we are to feel again whole and reconnected with our internal and the external totality of Life/Creation?
In ancient wisdoms, dreams were held and exchanged in sacred ritual spaces as divine guidance to enlighten societies on all matters from the mundane, political and collective. Dreams were received as inspirations, insights, esoteric knowledge or a knowing coming from an expanded Consciousness.
As the Goddess was sent down into the core of the Earth, so were dreams and the nightly dormant content of the unconscious mind pushed down as second-class material unworthy of the supremacy of our conscious, linear and arrogant mind.
As Jung documented, our dreams are streams of our individual and collective consciousness, inhabited by powerful archetypes and portals into the depth of our own psyche for our individual healing while being more and more attuned and expanded with the wisdom of the Self, the Higher Principle permeating everything.
Dreams are part of the Body of the Feminine Wisdom.
One can read a lot about the history of the different Goddesses or be involved in rituals which have their place, of course, but Feminine deep initiations are in my view often held in the realm of our dreams, in which a woman can be kissed by Her Mystery and receive Her guidance.
Why?
I don’t undermine reading about the Goddesses which I love too nor rituals.
While performing activities during the day, our awakened and conscious mind is in charge. But during our dreams, the active ego is absent. The waking day is the realm of the conscious mind while the sleeping night is the realm of the unconscious mind, the realm of the Goddess. In rituals, the ego mind is still in charge of the ritual. At some point of the ritual, if properly done, ego dissolves, which is the point of the ritual, but it is still there in the background, always ready to jump up as soon as there is a distracting movement or when an ancient uncomfortable feeling emerges during the process of letting go and surrendering.
In the realm of dreams, with our conscious and controlling mind down on its knees, we are totally in the labyrinth of pathways of our subconscious mind, except when some control is applied, such as in lucid dreaming and manipulation of the content. Even if lucid dreaming is not the topic of this piece, I feel it’s important to anchor this technique in the ancient Eastern spiritualities it is originating from. I was initiated to lucid dreaming during the transmission of the Tibetan Bardo (transitional states between Life and Death, similar intermediate realms between our sleeping and awakened states). In this context lucid dream practices are about deepening Presence/Awareness rooted into a larger expanded consciousness than the ego mind.
Dreams from the subconscious realm are the counterpart of our conscious structured mind as the moon is the wife of the sun. The moon being the Queen of the night while the Sun the king of our awakened reality.
Dreams are here to inform us about past and deeper matters well guarded by our conscious mind to allow our functioning but still impacting our being. Past fearful, painful or traumatic experiences censored by our conscious mind for our wellbeing can be revealed in our dreams, leading us to a new vantage perspective for our healing and the expansion of our consciousness.
Besides individual expansion, our dreams are also the portal to universal archetypes rooted in the collective unconscious. These can manifest as symbols and beings permeated with a palpable ancient and universal fragrance leaving a strong imprint in the body and the psyche, blossoming new insights and inner transformation when tended and felt.
Dreams are
An imprint of Remembering
Something which is before and beyond our individual being
Binding us to the interior of the tapestry of life,
The Feminine Face of God,
Maze of Consciousness
Flowing in the matter of all forms.
Dreams are
An imprint of Remembering
In our feminine bodies and deeper layers of our psyche
Revealed through a felt metaphorical sense
Rooted in the timeless realm of Kairos,
Reweaving our consciousness
To be Again Attuned
To the extraordinary mystery of Life
Gleaming in our Feminine Soul.
Unconscious, dreams, remembering, body, timeless, metaphors, images … are all forgotten portals of the Feminine Wisdom, needed and resurrecting in this modern patriarchal realm.
“The bridge between the eternal and the temporal is metaphor in art and in dreams.... If people give themselves half an hour a day with the imagery in their dreams or with their music (whatever their creative process is) the soul becomes very quiet. They’re located in their body and they feel nourished by the activity... becoming quiet and living with these metaphors takes them back into their own creativity.” Marion Woodman, in To Be a Woman, and The Forsaken Garden
